Women’s Tennis Handed Tough 4-3 Loss by Dominican (NY)

Goldey-Beacom played a spirited match against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference-foe Dominican (NY), but was handed a 4-3 loss at The Independence School in Newark, DE.
 
The Lightning (0-2, 0-2 CACC) dropped the doubles point, but did see senior Nahomi Quinonez (Manta, Ecuador) and freshman Jenna Frank (Ulm, Germany) get a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles over Olivia Lopez and Hayley McGhee.  The Chargers (1-2, 1-2) got the point when Elizaveta Kisel and Angelina Amelkina rallied at second doubles from 5-2 down and two service breaks against to get a 7-5 win.
 
Quinonez topped Amelkina, 6-2, 7-5, at first singles, Frank got a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Vanya Tyagi at No. 2 singles and senior Elina Mukhamadeeva (Kazan, Russia) notched a 6-1, 6-2 win over Lopez at sixth singles.  It all came down to No. 5 singles and it was McGhee coming through for Dominican with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 victory.
 
Goldey-Beacom next Wednesday is at Chestnut Hill for a 2:00 pm match.
