Women’s Tennis Announces The Independence School as its 2025-26 Home

8/11/2025 12:00:00 AM

Goldey-Beacom's Women's Tennis team is proud to announce its home matches and practices for the 2025-26 campaign will take place at The Independence School in Newark, DE.

Located just over two miles from the College's Pike Creek campus, The Independence School offers the perfect opportunity with the required six courts and the school only playing interscholastic tennis in the spring.  GBC, along with the rest of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, plays its league slate in the fall.

"I'm very excited about this relationship with a great local partner," Director of Athletics Jeremy Benoit said.  "The Independence School is right in our backyard and they have been very fair and accommodating throughout the negotiation process.  We look forward to competing in their facility and growing our relationship."

Goldey-Beacom (15-5, 7-3 CACC) last season had yet another impressive campaign in which it won the final three regular-season matches to reach the conference tournament for the first time since 2019.  GBC in the spring under assistant coach Eric Burns, who has been promoted to head coach, went 7-1 and was ranked as high as 47th in the country.

Senior Nahomi Quinonez (Manta, Ecuador) is back after another exceptional campaign, notching a combined 29-10 record that included 15-5 in doubles and 14-5 in singles.  The 2023 CACC Rookie of the Year, Quinonez last season amassed eight straight victories in singles and three doubles winning streaks of at least four matches.

Senior Lucia Corte (Gijon, Spain) last season was a key contributor, recording a 12-4 singles record and a 10-5 doubles mark.  Eleven of her singles wins came in straight sets and she notched three winning streaks of at least three matches.

Senior Elina Mukhamadeeva (Kazan, Russia) amassed two singles victories last season and sophomore Ihsane Achouri (Casablanca, Morocco) returns after battling injuries.
