Goldey-Beacom achieved a new high in single-season victories and accomplished this in its first NCAA Tournament game, a 7-5 triumph over Bridgeport at the Jackson Complex in Wilmington, DE.
This happened on the same day Wynter Radcliffe (Glen Burnie, MD) was named first team National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-East Region and fellow senior Caitlyn Burch (Mechanicsville, MD) was picked second team.
Goldey-Beacom advances to the winners bracket and will face Wilmington on Friday at 10:00 am.  Please note that game will be played at Wilmington University in New Castle, DE.
The Lightning today held a 1-0 lead entering the second inning and were looking for more.  Senior Bryn Bohmann (Saskatoon, SK) delivered the hit she was brought here to deliver and the one she has come through on all season, crushing a three-run double that gave GBC a 4-0 lead.
Radcliffe added an RBI single later in the frame for a 5-0 margin.
But the Purple Knights came back to tie in the third.  Sydnee Perreault lined an RBI double, Mya Jones had a sacrifice fly and Angela Oro leveled things with a two-run homer.
But the Lightning manufactured a run in the fourth to take the lead for good.  Freshman Josalyn McMillan (Rising Sun, MD) lined a leadoff double, sophomore McKenna Frank (Oxford, PA) sacrificed her to third and senior Ariana Mirenda (Reading, PA) followed with an RBI single for a 6-5 margin.
Bohmann added an RBI double in the sixth for the final.
Burch (19-5) came out of the bullpen and broke the team's single-season record for victories in a season, striking out 10 over 4 2/3 scoreless frames in yielding just two hits.
Senior Alex Lowry (Wenonah, NJ) added an RBI with Bohmann and Mirenda getting two hits apiece for the Lightning (38-14), who bested the previous mark of 37 wins achieved in 1998.
Madison D'Amato had two hits for Bridgeport (33-15).
In the first NCAA Tournament of any kind on the Pike Creek campus, Wilmington notched a 4-2 victory over Southern New Hampshire.
