Softball Wraps Regular Season With Sweep At Lincoln (PA)

Goldey-Beacom wrapped its regular season with an impressive record of 34-11 after getting the two game sweep at Lincoln (PA), 12-2 and 3-0.

Senior Bryn Bohmann (Saskatoon, SK) got things started in game one by reaching base on a fielding error that sent sophomore McKenna Frank (Oxford, PA) home for the first run of the game. The first inning also saw Lincoln score its first run on a single from Ashlynn Sherman that advanced Veronica Tart. Senior Wynter Radcliffe (Glen Burnie, Md.) batted in Frank off a single in the third inning before GBC scored three more runs in the fourth inning off of an error, a single to left field from Frank, and a double to left field from senior Ariana Mirenda (Reading, Pa).

Leinayiah Jex sent Ajah McDowell home in the fourth inning to add the second and final run of the game for Lincoln. The Lightning continued to dominate at the plate in the remaining innings, with sophomore Chaneyl Johnson (Egg Harbor City, N.J.) scoring Radcliffe in the fifth inning, Radcliffe scoring two runs on her double to center field, in the sixth inning, and the final inning saw freshman Josalyn McMillan (Rising Sun, MD) score two on a triple to center field, Frank bat in one on a single, and Bohmann tripling to right field to give GBC their twelfth run of the game.

Senior Morgan McLane (Clayton, DE) continued her perfect season from the mound, striking out four over five innings and fellow senior Cat Nelson (Wilmington, DE) closed out the final two innings with one strikeout of her own.

Game two saw a similar start to game one, with Bohmann again reaching first on a fielding error that, this time, sent home Mirenda for the first run. A passed ball gave Frank the chance to score in the third inning and a double from junior Autumn Simpson (Elkton, Md) scored senior Alex Lowry (Wenonah, N.J.) in the sixth inning to give the Lightning the 3-0 victory.

Senior Caitlyn Burch (Mechanicsville, Md) improved to 16-4 from the mound, striking out five while only allowing two hits in a complete game.

Goldey-Beacom hosts the first round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference tournament on Saturday at the Jackson Athletic Complex in Wilmington, DE at noon, with the second game played directly after if necessary.
