Game Recap: Softball |

Softball Takes Two From Chestnut Hill

Goldey-Beacom received a great deal of production up and down the board in making it five straight wins, notching Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victories of 11-0 and 6-1 over Chestnut Hill at the Jackson Complex in Wilmington, DE.

Game one saw the continued dominance of senior pitcher Morgan McLane (Clayton, DE), who moved to 8-0 on the campaign after striking out seven over five innings for her sixth career shutout.

It was McLane's 30th career victory, moving her into sole possession of fourth place in team history and three off the school record shared by Tiffany Frick and GBC Athletics Hall of Famer Kendra Russell.  McLane now is at 253 career strikeouts, remaining third in team history and now 14 off of Russell's team record.

A five-run second inning got things going, highlighted by a two-run double from freshman Josalyn McMillan (Rising Sun, MD).  Sophomore McKenna Frank (Oxford, PA) added an RBI double and senior Ariana Mirenda (Reading, PA) had a sacrifice bunt that plated two.

GBC then added six runs in the fourth with McMillan, senior Wynter Radcliffe (Glen Burnie, MD), Rayna Pelcak (Laurel Springs, NJ) and fellow junior Autumn Simpson (Elkton, MD) all getting RBI.

McMillan notched three RBI with Frank and Pelcak getting two hits apiece for the Lightning (23-10, 7-5 CACC).

Simpson in game two got GBC on the board in the second inning with a leadoff homer for her fifth career long ball.  The home side made it 2-0 in the third when Mirenda lined a leadoff triple and senior Bryn Bohmann (Saskatoon, SK) sacrificed her home.

The Lightning then left no doubt with four runs in the fifth for a 6-0 cushion.  Junior Emma Friel (Coatesville, PA) had an RBI single, senior Davi Jimenez (Vineland, NJ) ripped a run-scoring triple, Radcliffe followed with an RBI single and one batter later scored on an error.

Mechanicsburg, MD senior Caitlyn Burch (12-3) continued to dazzle, striking out 10 over seven innings in allowing just one run and three hits.  She now has 112 strikeouts for the fifth-best single-season total in school history and her victories are tied for 12th for one year.

Mirenda and Simpson closed with two hits apiece.
