Both Track and Field teams ended day one of the Paul Donahue Invitational in Chester, PA on a high note before heading into day two.
In the men's track events, only two runners competed in a race on day one, and that was freshman Kalle Ohlund (Huskvarna, Sweden) and sophomore John Ferry (Rising Sun, MD) in the 5,000-meter run. Ohlund finished 38th with a time of 15:26.69 and Ferry placed 60th with 15:43.48.
Junior Sebastien Lacroix (Hamilton, NJ) was the lone athlete in the field events, grabbing 14th place in the shot put with a throw of 12.24m and 16th place in the discus throw with a distance of 37.82m.
On the women's side, senior Madelynn Cool (Smyrna, DE) notched a third place finish in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 47:50.03. In the field events, junior Jourdyn Rumph (Ardmore, PA) finished eighth in the discus throw at 36.50m and 10th in the shot put at 11.31m. Freshman Dominique Lewis (Salem, NJ) finished 34th in discus throw with a distance of 27.91m and fourth in shot put with a throw of 11.96m. Junior Maya White Eagle (Baraboo, WI) placed 26th in shot put with 9.86m and junior Madison McGowan (Bristow, VA) finished 29th with 9.60m.
Both teams return to Chester, PA tomorrow to compete in day two of the Paul Donahue Invitational, with events beginning at 9:00 am.
