Softball Splits with Dominican (NY)

Goldey-Beacom softball saw a split with CACC opponent Domican (NY), game one resulting in a 5-1 loss and game two seeing a 14-0 victory.

In game one, senior Bryn Bohmann (Saskatoon, SK) got the Lightning their solo run of the game in the third inning off a single down the right field line that sent sophomore Chaneyl Johnson (Egg Harbor City, N.J.) home. 


In the fifth inning, Dominican (NY) scored their first two runs off a single from 
Toni-Jo Lopez that advanced Jalaeya LaPorte and Kindel Johnson home. The next three runs came in the sixth inning when Johnson singled to right field to send Chloe McIntosh and Adriana Barnes home and Emily Angulo wrapped it up with a single that allowed Johnson to score.

Game two saw the Lightning rally back and pick up the 14-0 shutout in five innings. 


In the first inning, junior Rayna Pelcak ( Laurel Springs, N.J.) singled to center field that sent sophomore Mckenna Frank (Oxford, PA) home. The third inning saw freshman Bri Cole (Rising Sun, Md.) double to right field that advanced Frank home, Pelcak and Cole scored on an error after a hit from Senior Alex Lowry (Wenonah, N.J.), and junior Autumn Simpson (Elkton, MD) doubled to center field that lead Lowry home.


The fourth inning saw a home run from Chaneyl Johnson, her first of the season. Bohmann then singled to send Frank home, Cole reached base on a fielder's choice that sent Bohmann home, and Lowry doubled to run in junior Alesia Doctor (Rising Sun, MD) and Johnson. The Lightning capped off the night with two more runs in the fifth inning, coming off two singles from Bohmann and Lowry.


Senior Morgan McLane (Clayton, DE) improved to 6-0 on the season and ended the game with five strikeouts and only one hit.


Goldey-Beacom plays again on Sunday, where they face Bowie State in a doubleheader at 2:00pm at the Jackson Athletic Complex.
