Bryn Bohmann Lifts Softball to Dramatic Doubleheader Split vs. Georgian Court

Senior Bryn Bohmann (Saskatoon, SK) rapped a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning, propelling Goldey-Beacom to a 4-3 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win over Georgian Court that followed a 9-1 loss at the Jackson Complex in Wilmington, DE.

With Goldey-Beacom (18-9, 4-4 CACC) trailing 3-1 in the nightcap, freshman Bri Cole (Rising Sun, MD) started the last of the seventh by reaching on an error.  Junior Autumn Simpson (Elkton, MD) walked and sophomore McKenna Frank (Oxford, PA) singled to load the bases before freshman Ryann Soltis (Saratoga Springs, NY) drew a one-out walk to make it a one-run game.  Sophomore Laura Hughes (Bel Air, MD) grounded into a fielder's choice before Bohmann stepped to the plate.

Bohmann worked the count full before hitting one to right center, plating Frank and junior Delaney Insinga (Southampton, NJ) for the heart-stopping win and her second hit of the contest.  She also reached 200 hits for her collegiate career.

Clayton, DE senior Morgan McLane (5-0) again was great in the circle by striking out four over seven innings for her 27th career win, moving into a tie for fifth place in school history and just six off the top mark.  Her 235 career strikeouts keeps her in third in team annals.

It also was the 100th GBC victory for fourth-year coach Juli Greep.

Georgian Court in the second inning of game one plated three runs for a 4-0 lead.  Charlee Mae Sinderud lined an RBI single, Kaylin Curro followed with a run-scoring double and Lia DeMaio followed that with an RBI bunt single.

Ella Moore delivered the key blow in the fifth with a two-run triple, plating DeMaio and Curro.

Freshman Josalyn McMillan (Rising Sun, MD) got an RBI groundout in the fifth for the Lightning.

Curro and DeMaio closed with three hits apiece with Julia Lapp allowing just one run and two hits over five innings for the Lions (7-15, 3-3).

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday hits the road to visit Dominican (NY) for a noon doubleheader in Orangeburg, NY.
