Goldey-Beacom women's basketball had its second face-off of the season against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent Jefferson, which is ranked eighth in the East Region, but came up short in a 77-58 defeat.
Jefferson came out strong on the offensive end in the first half, entering halftime with a 13-point lead. The Rams did not let up in the second half and forced GBC into a 15-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter before taking their 15th victory of the season and ninth conference win.
Goldey-Beacom was led by freshman Lydia Betz (Pittsburgh, Pa.), who finished with 11 points and three rebounds. Sophomore Katie Yoder (Dublin, Pa.) added 10 points and four steals, senior Julie Kulesza (Wilmington, DE) netted nine points, and fellow senior Julie McCarron (Wilmington, DE) had four assists and four steals.
Jefferson was led by Cassie Murphy, who finished with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Gabby Recinto and Emily Spratt both added 14 points for the Rams.
Goldey-Beacom plays next on Saturday, where it faces Post in Waterbury, CT at 1pm.
