Women’s Basketball Falls, 72-63, at Caldwell



Goldey-Beacom once again received a strong offensive showing, but was handed a 72-63 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss at Caldwell in Caldwell, NJ.
 
Goldey-Beacom in the first half ended things on a 13-6 run, shooting 5-of-9 from the floor for a 39-37 deficit.  Sophomore Katie Yoder (Dublin, PA), who scored 14 points in the half on 5-of-5 shooting, netted eight points in that span.
 
The Lightning again found their offensive groove, netting 12 straight points bridging the third and fourth quarters for a 56-54 deficit with 9:49 remaining.  Junior Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE) scored four points in that time and sophomore Farrah White (Wilmington, DE) canned a 3-pointer.
 
But the Cougars, up 60-56 with 6:22 left, went on a 9-2 run for a 67-58 margin with 2:42 to go.  Brooke Corbett and Lucy Coogan scored four points apiece.
 
Yoder made an outstanding return after sitting out the last three games due to injury, closing with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting with six rebounds.  Ciszkowski scored 15 points, White netted 14, freshman Lydia Betz (Pittsburgh, PA) poured in 10 with senior Julie Kulesza (Wilmington, DE) adding 10 rebounds for GBC (7-15, 4-6 CACC).
 
Jah'Nel Lewis scored 25 points on 9-of-18 shooting with 10 rebounds, Lucy Coogan netted 14 points with Nia Clemons adding 11 for the Cougars (11-9, 5-4).
 
Goldey-Beacom is home next Wednesday against Jefferson, beginning at 6:00 pm.
