Goldey-Beacom women's basketball closed 2025 with a home game against non-conference opponent Mercy, but came up short in in a 69-52 defeat.
Goldey-Beacom came out strong in the first quarter by putting up 18 points, but was halted on the offensive end in the second quarter by strong defense from Mercy and went into halftime with a four-point deficit. Mercy continued strong offensive play in the second half, and put up 41 more points en route to its seventh victory of the season.
Goldey-Beacom was led by junior Genesis Garcia (Aguada, P.R.) with 12 points. Sophomore Lydia Betz (Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished with eight points, four rebounds and four assists with senior Gaia Zimbardo (Parma, Italy) notching eight points, five rebounds and three steals.
Mercy was led by Grace Lesko with 21 points and 11 rebounds and Angelina Barrera with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Goldey-Beacom plays next on Saturday, when it opens 2026 in Bridgeport, CT against Bridgeport at 1:00 pm.
