Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Dealt 68-54 Loss at Adelphi

Goldey-Beacom's high-flying offense temporarily was grounded in dropping a 68-54 contest at Adelphi in Garden City, NY.

The Lightning came into the contest averaging 81.7 points per game and had scored at least 90 points three times this season, including the last two contests.  But the Panthers allowed just 66.0 points per game before today and held an opponent under 60 for a fourth time this season.

Down 37-26 early in the second half, the Lightning began their charge by scoring the next seven points.  Senior Justin Allen (Boca Raton, FL) made a layup, sophomore Tre Powell (Mount Laurel, NJ) canned a 3-pointer and junior Elisha Brown (Bowie, MD) hit two free throws with 12:44 left for a 37-33 deficit.

However, the Panthers went on a 12-7 run over the next 8 1/2 minutes for a 58-40 margin with 4:15 remaining.  Matthew Price netted 10 points in that time with Mason Jackson adding five.

Emarquis Jones (Brooklyn, NY) scored 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting to go with a season-high-tying nine rebounds, fellow junior Julian Williams (Fayetteville, NC) had 12 points and seven rebounds, Powell netted eight points with Allen getting seven for the Lightning (7-5).

Dayshaun Walton had 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting and seven rebounds with Jackson also netting 13 points for Adelphi (10-1), which won its seventh straight by shooting 51 percent (28-of-55) from the floor with seven 3-pointers.  Price and Reece Brown netted 10 points apiece.

Goldey-Beacom is home December 31 against Franklin Pierce for a 2:00 pm contest.
