Women’s Basketball Falls, 73-55, at Franklin Pierce

Goldey-Beacom looked to get back on the winning track, but was handed a 73-55 loss by Franklin Pierce in Rindge, NH.
 
Franklin Pierce quickly got out of the gates, opening a 29-15 lead at the end of the first quarter by shooting 63 percent (10-of-16) from the floor with six 3-pointers.  Angelisse Melendez scored 12 points in the period with Emily Mennillo adding eight.
 
The Lightning's defense was on display in the third quarter, holding the Ravens to just eight points on 20 percent shooting (3-of-15).
 
Goldey-Beacom in the fourth quarter made a run, using a 9-4 spurt over six minutes in closing to 59-51 with four minutes remaining.  Senior Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE) scored five points in that time with senior Karlee Lemon (Williamsburg, VA) and sophomore Marasia Dyes (Binghamton, NY) adding two apiece.
 
However, the Ravens ended the game with a 12-2 run over the final 2:28.  Armani Rivera netted four points in that span.
 
Ciszkowski closed with 15 points, Lemon and freshman Amber Furtado (Deerfield, NH) netted seven points apiece, Dyes poured in six with senior Gaia Zimbardo (Parma, Italy) adding 10 rebounds for the Lightning (1-10).
 
Melendez scored 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting with eight 3-pointers, Mennillo poured in 16 and Natalie Beaudoin added 13 on 5-of-9 shooting for the Ravens (1-9).
 
Goldey-Beacom is off until December 31, when it hosts Mercy at noon.
