Goldey-Beacom scored 56 second-half points and shot 59 percent from the field during that span in a 96-74 victory over Mercy at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
After yielding the game's first 10 points, Goldey-Beacom ended the first half on a 40-22 run over the last 16 1/2 minutes for a 40-32 lead. Senior Justin Allen (Boca Raton, FL) continued to be an offensive presence with 13 points and got help from sophomore Tre Powell (Mount Laurel, NJ) and junior Emarquis Jones (Brooklyn, NY), who each netted eight.
The second half was a track meet in which the Lightning (7-4) dominated, gaining a 56-42 edge on the scoreboard by shooting 23-of-39 from the floor with five 3-pointers. Allen poured in 11 points, Powell scored 10 with sophomore Anthony Akande (Newark, NJ) adding eight.
Coming off a strong second half Tuesday against Molloy, Allen carried that into tonight with a career-best 24 points on 11-of-14 shooting over just 22 minutes. Powell scored 18 on 5-of-9 shooting with Jones getting 14 and seven rebounds.
Powell has scored in double figures 10 out of the Lightning's 11 games this season and remains at 18.2 points per contest.
Kohen Rowbatham poured in a team-high 21 points on 9-of-17 shooting, Derek Long netted 16 with TJ Holloway adding 14 for the Mavericks (2-9), who shot 43 percent (26-of-60) from the floor but could not overcome 22 turnovers.
