Men’s Basketball Handed 78-64 Loss by Felician

Goldey-Beacom looked to hand Felician its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss of the season, but was dealt a 78-64 defeat at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

Felician in the opening half controlled near the goal, shooting 53 percent (16-of-30) from the floor that included 14-of-22 from two-point range.  Jared White scored seven points with Tristin Harcourt and Jeremiah Anderson adding six apiece for the Golden Falcons, who owned a 35-25 lead on the scoreboard and forced 10 turnovers.

The Lightning battled throughout the second half, especially when they used a 17-12 run over 10 minutes in closing to 58-52 with 5:16 remaining.  Anthony Akande (Newark, NJ) scored five points in that time with fellow sophomore Brian Blanchet (North Babylon, NY), Emarquis Jones (Brooklyn, NY) and fellow junior Julian Williams (Fayetteville, NC) each canning a 3-pointer.

The Golden Falcons (7-1, 4-0 CACC) then put away the contest with a 16-5 burst in just over four minutes for a 74-57 lead with 64 seconds to go.  Anderson and Tavian Pullock each netted four points during that span.

Williams scored 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting, junior Masud Stewart (Philadelphia, PA) netted 12, Jones poured in 11 with Akande adding nine and nine rebounds for the Lightning (5-4, 2-3).  Jones now has scored in double figures seven times this season.

Harcourt had 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting with 10 rebounds, Pullock netted 15, Noah Hutchins and Jared White poured in 13 apiece with Anderson adding 12 for the Golden Falcons, who shot 55 percent (28-of-51) overall from the field.  They also went 16-for-18 from the foul line in the second half, making their first 10.

Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday hosts Molloy for a 6:00 pm contest.
