Fantastic Four From Goldey-Beacom Picked for CACC Weekly Awards

Another impressive week for Goldey-Beacom saw Kelci Gingras (Orem, UT) picked Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Volleyball Rookie of the Week a second straight week, sophomore Gaby Fernandez (Arecibo, PR) tabbed the sport's Defensive Player of the Week a third time this year, Gabi Fullwood (Powder Springs, PA) named to the Weekly Honor Roll and fellow sophomore Tess Pearce (Manchester, England) picked to Women's Soccer's Weekly Honor Roll.

Gingras had 25 kills, 11 digs and three blocks over two matches. She recorded 15 kills, a .371 percentage and six digs Wednesday in Goldey-Beacom's 3-1 triumph at Jefferson before getting 10 kills and five digs Saturday in her squad's 3-1 win at Bridgeport.

Fernandez amassed 51 digs over two matches, putting last year's second team all-conference pick eighth in team annals with 1,087 career digs. She notched 32 digs Saturday after recording 19 on Wednesday.

Fullwood closed with 24 kills, only three errors, a .467 hitting percentage and 12 blocks that included six solos. She had 13 kills, one error, a .462 percentage and seven blocks Wednesday. Fullwood then had 11 kills, two error, a .474 percentage and five blocks Saturday.

The play of this trio along with many others has Goldey-Beacom (13-11, 7-4 CACC) on the verge of making the CACC Tournament a second straight year. It can clinch that berth with a victory Thursday at home against Georgian Court.

Pearce closed with two goals and an assist over two games. All of that came Saturday at Dominican (NY) in Goldey-Beacom's huge 4-3 victory. That win was captured when a potential Dominican clear bounced off GBC junior Lexy Yeager (West Deptford, NJ) and in the net with two seconds left.

That victory clinched the Lightning's ninth appearance in the CACC Tournament over the last 11 competitive seasons.
