Goldey-Beacom women's basketball traveled to Sparkill, NY to face Saint Thomas Aquinas for a final tune-up before conference play begins, but was dealt a 57-47 loss.
STAC came out dominant in the first quarter, outscoring the Lightning 16-4. GBC chipped away in the second half and went into halftime only down 10. Saint Thomas Aquinas continued its offensive presence in the third quarter, putting up 15 more points. Goldey-Beacom had a final quarter push to try and secure its first win, but it was not enough.
Goldey-Beacom was led by sophomore Lydia Betz (Pittsburgh, PA), who finished with 21 points, five rebounds and three blocks. Senior Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE) added nine points and 10 rebounds and freshman Amber Furtado (Deerfield, NH) grabbed seven rebounds.
Saint Thomas Aquinas was led by Bailey Chapman with 13 points and ten rebounds, Iyana Morel with 11 points and 14 rebounds and Delaney Finnegan with 10 points.
Goldey-Beacom begins Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play on Tuesday, when it travels to Caldwell, NJ to face Caldwell at 5:30 pm.
