Goldey-Beacom played hard in its home opener, but was handed a 64-50 loss by Staten Island at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.
Goldey-Beacom was on the wrong end of a 12-2 run to end the third quarter and found itself in a 50-36 hole. Shonyae Edmonds and Arielle Barnes scored four points apiece in that span for the Dolphins, who shot 47 percent (8-of-17) from the floor over that time.
Senior Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE), named this week to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Weekly Honor Roll, had 14 points and 13 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Sophomore Lydia Betz (Pittsburgh, PA) netted 13 points to go with six rebounds and senior Karlee Lemon (Williamsburg, VA) scored 12 points for the Lightning (0-3).
Racky Kane netted 20 points on 10-of-17 shooting to go with 10 rebounds, Barnes and Edmonds poured in 14 points apiece with Kyra Rose adding 10 for CSI (2-1).
Goldey-Beacom on Saturday is at Saint Thomas Aquinas for a 1:00 pm contest.
