Men’s Basketball Remains Unbeaten with 87-52 Thrashing of Bowie State

Goldey-Beacom rolled early and often in cruising to an 87-52 victory at Bowie State in Bowie, MD.

Goldey-Beacom (3-0) in the first half established momentum with a 16-4 run in opening a 29-16 lead with 10 minutes left.  Emarquis Jones (Brooklyn, NY) continued his impressive start to the young campaign with nine points in the run and fellow junior Julian Williams (Fayetteville, NC) added five.

Jones ended the half with 13 points and sophomore Tre Powell (Mount Laurel, NJ) netted 11 for the Lightning, who owned a 45-30 lead by holding the Bulldogs to just 33 percent shooting (10-of-30) that included 2-of-12 from 3-point range.

The onslaught continued into the second half, when the Lightning opened things on a 29-9 run seemingly doing everything at will for a 74-39 lead with 7:37 remaining.  Powell netted 10 points in that span with junior Masud Stewart (Philadelphia, PA) adding five for GBC, which shot 11-of-25 from the field in that span with five 3-pointers.

Bowie State (0-3) in that time went 3-of-13 from the floor with five turnovers.
