Goldey-Beacom men's basketball faced the District of Columbia on the second day of opening weekend in Washington, D.C. and ended the trip with a 89-78 win to improve to 2-0.
The Lightning went into halftime facing a 47-37 deficit, but were able to make an impressive comeback en route to the victory. Junior Emarquis Jones (Brooklyn, NY) was a key contributor to the second half comeback, putting up 14 points, three steals, and eight rebounds in the final 20 minutes.
Jones finished with 23 points overall with sophomore Tre Powell (Mount Laurel, N.J.) notching 17 points and six assists. Juniors Masud Stewart (Philadelphia, PA) and Julian Williams (Fayetteville, N.C.) both finished with 11 points apiece.
UDC was led by Michael Harrell with 22 points and Ty Williams with 16 points.
Goldey-Beacom plays next on Tuesday, when it travels to Bowie, MD to play Bowie State at 11:00 am.
