Goldey-Beacom volleyball traveled to Bridgeport, CT to face Bridgeport in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play and came away with a 3-1 victory (25-19, 25-15, 17-25, 25-21).
The first set saw the Lightning hold the Purple Knights to a 0.000 hitting percentage and put down 11 kills. In set two, GBC had a strong .400 hitting percentage, having only four errors on 35 attempts. The fourth set saw equal play between both sides, but Goldey-Beacom came away with the 25-21 win to take the match for its 13th win of the season and seventh in conference play.
The Lightning were led by sophomore Gabi Fullwood (Powder Springs, Ga.) with 11 kills and five blocks and junior Kloë Waymel (Mulhouse, France) with 10. Gaby Fernandez (Arecibo, P.R.) paced the defense with 32 digs and five aces with fellow sophomore Juliana Malena (Miami, FL) setting up the offense with 36 assists.
Bridgeport was led by Hailey Jessen with 20 kills and Elaine DeLallo with 16 digs.
Goldey-Beacom play next on Thursday, when it hosts Georgian Court in the Joseph West Jones Center in Wilmington, DE for a 7:00 pm match.
