Goldey-Beacom men's soccer faced off against The College of Staten Island for a non-conference game at the Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE and ended the game with a 1-1 tie.
The first half remained scoreless for both teams, with the Lightning taking nine shots, while holding CSI to zero shots.
Staten Island found the back of the net in the 61st minute of play when a deflected shot from Alonso Villegas found Tai Torres for the goal. GBC was able to fight back to even the score when sophomore Sam Ball (Salisbury, Md.) secured a loose ball near the goal and scored.
Freshman Matt Porto (Wilmington, Del.) took four shots for the Lightning and senior Jamel Yasin (Sewell, N.J.) finished with four saves. Carl Romero Astacio had five saves for Staten Island.
Goldey-Beacom resumes Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play on Saturday, where they host Bridgeport for a 2:30pm match at the Nancy Churchman Sawin Field in Wilmington, DE.
