Kelci Gingras Tabbed CACC Volleyball Rookie of the Week

Goldey-Beacom freshman Kelci Gingras (Orem, UT) has her squad in the thick of the chase for a return spot in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament and her latest efforts got her tabbed the league's Volleyball Rookie of the Week.

Gingras closed the week with 29 kills, 18 digs and three blocks over two matches. She had a season-best 21 kills to go with nine digs and two blocks Tuesday against Holy Family before getting eight kills and nine digs Friday vs. Bowie State.

Helping the cause for a young team seeking to make noise for years to come, Gingras has notched four double-doubles so far at outside hitter. Her latest came October 15, when she had 16 kills and 15 digs at Wilmington.

Gingras also had 13 kills and a season-best 22 digs September 27 vs. Kutztown after notching 10 and 11 four days earlier vs. Jefferson.

Gingras is one of 10 newcomers, including five freshmen, who have Goldey-Beacom (11-11, 5-4 CACC) sitting third in the CACC South Division with the top four making the conference tournament. The Lightning's magic number for making a second consecutive trip to the tournament is four.

Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday is at Jefferson for a 6:00 pm match in East Falls.
