Women’s Tennis Leaves Upstate New York With 5-2 Win at Dominican (NY)

Goldey-Beacom took another step toward making the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament a second straight year with a 5-2 victory over Dominican (NY) in Monsey, NY.
 
Goldey-Beacom (3-4, 3-4 CACC) won the doubles point in convincing fashion.  Sophomore Camilla Franzin (Trieste, Italy) and freshman Ana Thaler got a 6-3 triumph at No. 1 over Hope Brown and Hayley McGhee, freshman Jenna Frank (Ulm, Germany) and senior Lucia Corte (Gijon, Spain) notched a 6-2 victory at No. 2 vs. Angelina Amelkina and Elizaveta Kisel with senior Nahomi Quinonez (Manta, Ecuador) and Ihsane Achouri (Casablanca, Morocco) recording a 6-3 win at No. 3 against Vanya Tyagi and Bryn Fitzmaurice.
 
Franzin received a battle from Amelkina before notching a 7-6, 6-2 win at first singles and Quinonez got a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Tyagi at No. 2 singles.  Frank rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 win against Kisel at third singles before Elina Mukhamadeeva (Kazan, Russia) got a 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-6) victory over Brown at No. 6 singles.
 
The Chargers fell to 1-6 both overall and in the league.
 
Goldey-Beacom on Saturday hosts Chestnut Hill, beginning at noon at The Independence School in Newark, DE.  GBC can clinch a spot in the CACC Tournament with a win and a Dominican victory over Post.
