Goldey-Beacom College President Dr. Colleen Perry Keith, a longtime advocate of bettering student-athletes' lives and a longtime voice within the NCAA, has been named Vice Chair of the organization's Board of Governors.
Â
Elected last January as the Division II representative to the NCAA Board of Governors, Dr. Keith is in her second term as Chair of the NCAA Division II Executive Board.
Â
Dr. Keith also one of nine Presidents on the 14-member board out of the 311 Division II institutions to be on the Executive Board (formerly known as the Presidents Council).
Â
"It is an honor to be selected to serve both the NCAA Board of Governors and the NCAA Division II Executive Board during a time when collegiate athletics is undergoing change and challenge," Dr. Keith said. Â "College athletics plays an important role for so many students across the country, and providing them the best possible experience from which they can grow is important for their continued development."
Â
"Dr. Keith is a tremendous asset, not only to GBC, but also to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and the greater Division II," Director of Athletics Jeremy Benoit said. "She is incredibly well-read which helps her make decisions that are grounded in reality for the wide variety of institutions in Division II."
