Basketball Gets Three Picked for CACC Weekly Honors

1/27/2025 12:00:00 AM

An incredible week for Goldey-Beacom's basketball teams saw Lydia Betz (Pittsburgh, PA) named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, junior Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE) picked to the Weekly Honor Roll and sophomore Zakari McQueen (Petersburg, PA) selected to the Men's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll.

Betz averaged 14.5 points over two games on 63 percent shooting (10-of-16) with eight rebounds, seven steals and two blocks.  She had a career-best 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting to go with three steals Saturday vs. Bridgeport after getting 13 points, six rebounds and four steals Wednesday against Georgian Court.

Giving the Lightning key minutes in the post, Betz has started the squad's last 14 games.  She is second on the team in shooting 50 percent from the floor.

Ciszkowski averaged 16.0 points on 56 percent shooting (10-of-18) to go with nine 3-pointers, eight rebounds and three steals.  She scored 23 points Saturday, nailed six 3-pointers and became the school's career leader in 3-pointers during Goldey-Beacom's 74-52 win over Bridgeport.

One of the area's top guards, Ciszkowski now has 208 career 3-pointers to shatter the mark of 203 held by Lexi Bruno (2014-17).  Ciszkowski is 16th in the CACC with 12.3 points per game, second with a .415 three-point percentage, second with 2.8 three-pointers per game and 12th with a .425 field goal percentage.

McQueen twice provided the heroics in Goldey-Beacom's stunning 86-82 overtime victory Saturday over Bridgeport.  He canned the tying 3-pointer with 21 seconds left in regulation, capping his squad's comeback from down 68-50 with 6:29 to go.  McQueen then hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 40 seconds left for the Lightning's first lead of the game.  He ended with a career-best 30 points, tied a career high with six 3-pointers and averaged 19.5 points over two games for the week.

Adding to his growing resume, McQueen has scored at least 20 points in five of his last eight contests.  He is 12th in the league with 15.1 points per game, first with 3.3 three-pointers per contest and seventh with a .377 three-point percentage.

Both teams are in action Tuesday at Holy Family with the women playing at 6:00 pm and the men at 8:00 pm.
