Women’s Basketball Dealt 75-63 Loss at Chestnut Hill



Goldey-Beacom hung tough with Chestnut Hill going into the fourth quarter, but was handed a 75-63 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss in Philadelphia, PA.
 
Goldey-Beacom in the first half limited Chestnut Hill to just 38 percent shooting (11-of-29) and only trailed, 25-24.  Junior Gaia Zimbardo (Parma, Italy) came off the bench to score eight points on 4-of-7 shooting with senior Julie Kulesza (Wilmington, DE) adding seven.
 
The Lightning in the third quarter went on a scoring barrage, netting 25 points by shooting 50 percent (9-of-18) from the floor to gain a 49-48 lead.  Junior Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE) and sophomore Katie Yoder (Dublin, PA) netted six points apiece with freshman Lydia Betz (Pittsburgh, PA) and sophomore Genesis Garcia (Aguada, PR) adding five apiece.
 
However, the Griffins had an answer.  They exploded to open the fourth quarter with a 12-1 run, shooting 4-of-8 from the field for a 61-50 lead with 4:13 remaining.  Tiayo Adelekan netted seven points in shooting 3-of-5 from the field during that span.
 
Yoder, this week named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll, scored 14 points, Ciszkowski netted 13 with Kulesza getting nine, six rebounds and six assists for the Lightning (5-12, 2-3 CACC).  Betz poured in nine points with Zimbardo adding eight.
 
Avery White netted 22 points with Adelekan adding 10 for the Griffins (8-9, 4-1), who shot 47 percent (26-of-55) from the floor.
 
Goldey-Beacom on Saturday visits Felician for a 1:00 pm contest.
