Men’s Basketball Falls, 71-60, at Chestnut Hill



Goldey-Beacom gave up a late run and left Philadelphia with a 71-60 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss at Chestnut Hill.
 
Goldey-Beacom in the opening half limited Chestnut Hill to just 37 percent shooting (11-of-30), but was down 30-25.  Senior David Robinson (Philadelphia, PA) closed the half with six points and 11 rebounds.
 
The Lightning midway through the second half found another gear, using a 16-6 run in just under six minutes for a 55-52 deficit with 5:56 left.  Junior Shane Taylor (Ellicott City, MD) netted five points in that time with freshman Tre Powell (Mount Laurel, NJ) adding four.
 
But the Griffins then went on a 10-4 spurt in opening a 65-56 cushion with 1:58 to play.  Iv Pettit scored three points and Omari Salvi ended it with a huge 3-pointer.
 
Taylor netted 15 points, junior Zayon Marsh (Maplewood, NJ) poured in 11 with sophomore Zakari McQueen (Petersburg, VA) adding nine.  Robinson had eight points and a season-best 16 rebounds with Powell adding eight points for the Lightning (5-11, 2-3 CACC).
 
Salvi scored 18 points with Noah Charles adding 14 for the Griffins (7-8, 3-2).
 
Goldey-Beacom on Saturday is at Felician for a 3:30 pm game.
