Women’s Tennis Cruises to 7-0 Victory at Molloy

Goldey-Beacom dropped only five games in singles and needed just over two hours to complete a 7-0 season-opening victory at Molloy in Oceanside, NY.
 
GBC won the doubles point, which began with reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Year Nahomi Quinonez (Manta, Ecuador) along with junior Zehra Canbaz (Denizli, Turkiye) getting a 6-0 victory at second doubles over Alice Fartushyanska and Isabella Fortareza.
 
It continued with junior Jess Sanzo (Bristol, England) and senior Lucia Corte (Gijon, Spain) notching a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles over Ashley Bonilla and Julia Salazar.  Second team All-CACC pick senior Elizabeth Mova (Sevastopol, Ukraine) along with freshman Sofia Lopez (Bogota, Colombia) were pushed to a tiebreak before recording a 7-6 (7-2) win at No. 1 doubles vs. Elena Baughman-Saunders and Erin Sanchez.
 
Quinonez, Sanzo and senior Macy Hendin-Walker (Ipswich, England) all notched 6-0, 6-0 triumphs at No. 3, 4 and 6 singles, respectively.  Mova got a 6-3, 6-0 victory at first singles, Canbaz notched a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles and Lopez amassed a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at fifth singles.
 
Goldey-Beacom opens CACC play Saturday at Dominican (NY).  The match time and site is yet to be announced.
