Goldey-Beacom Women's Tennis went undefeated in singles and doubles matches to claim a 7-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory against Post.
The doubles point was easily controlled by the Lightning, giving them a 1-0 lead. Senior Elizabeth Mova (Sevastopol, Ukraine) and freshman Sofia Lopez (Bogota, Colombia) cruised to a 6-0 triumph over Megan Lombardt and Julie Merlin in No. 1 doubles.
Juniors Zehra Canbaz (Denizli, Turkiye) and Nahomi Quinonez (Manta, Ecuador) also were victorious at No. 2 doubles, recording a 6-2 win against Melanie and Romy Leussink. No. 3 doubles also was won by GBC, with junior Jess Sanzo (Bristol, England) and senior Lucia Corte (Gijon, Spain) taking down Nina Langenfeld and Annelein Van Urk, 7-6 (7-3) of Post (1-6, 0-3 CACC).
Canbaz recorded a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Lombardt, Quinonez amassed a 7-6, 6-1 win over Merlin, Sanzo was victorious over Van Urk, with scores of 6-4 and 6-1. Lopez cruised to a victory in her singles match, defeating Langenfeld 6-0 in both sets. Corte also claimed a victory over Melaie Leussink, 6-1 and 6-2. Senior Macy Hendin-Walker (Ipswich, England) won her singles match 6-0 and 6-1 against Gioia Turco.
GBC (4-1, 3-1) is tied for second in the CACC with Chestnut Hill. The top four teams make the CACC Tournament.
Goldey Beacom plays next on Tuesday at 2pm against Dominican (NY) at the Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, DE.
