Softball Drops Two to No. 22 Wilmington (DE)



Goldey-Beacom came up against one of the nation's best, being handed two losses, 1-9 and 1-9, to No. 22 Wilmington (DE) at the Jackson Complex in Wilmington, DE.
 
Having taken a 3-0 lead in the first game, Wilmington (DE) rallied for seven runs over the fifth and sixth innings off three hits and a sacrifice fly.
 
The Lightning's only run in game one came from a homerun to right center fired by sophomore Morgan Scott (Elwood, IN).
 
Senior Hannah Davis (Bethel, DE) and junior Alex Lowry (Wenonah, NJ) also each notched one hit.
 
Tristyn Stewart closed 3-for-4 with one RBI, Taylor Gillis had two hits and two RBI, and Gabriella Saucedo had two hits and one RBI in the 9-1 win.
 
Game two saw a similar start for Wilmington (DE) as it tallied six first inning runs, with two others coming in the second and third innings.
 
Junior Bryn Bohmann notched the lone run for the Lightning, lining a home run to right center.
 
A final run in the sixth came from Isabella Eleazar of an RBI-double to secure Wilmington (DE)'s 9-1 win.
 
Davis, and senior Gabriella Monzo (Northfield, NJ) closed with one hit apiece, and junior Wynter Radcliffe (Glen Burnie, MD) recorded three strikeouts in 5.1 innings pitched for GBC (16-21, 6-3 CACC).
 
Gillis finished with two hits and three RBI, and Stewart and Lexi Moore each had two hits and one RBI, with Delani Sheehan striking out six in a complete game for Wilmington (DE) (25-10, 10-0 CACC).
 
Goldey-Beacom travels to Chestnut Hill on Tuesday to complete game two of the doubleheader in a 4:00 pm matchup in Philadelphia, PA.
