Softball Advances in the CACC Tournament with 10-2 Victory Over Georgian Court

Goldey-Beacom took care of business in the first round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament with a 10-2 victory over Georgian Court at the Jackson Complex in Wilmington, DE.

Scoring opened from the first inning courtesy of a two-RBI single from junior Bryn Bohmann (Saskatoon, SK). The lead was furthered in the second when freshman McKenna Frank (Oxford, PA) lined an RBI single to left field for a 3-0 margin.

The Lightning's momentum was difficult to stop, despite a solo home run from Georgian Court's Brittany Gable. Sophomores Autumn Simpson (Elkton, MD) and Rayna Pelcak (Laurel Springs, NJ) each fired RBI singles to push the lead to 6-1 in the third.

A four-run rally in the fourth with RBI doubles from sophomore Morgan Scott (Elwood, IN) and junior Bri Snover (Claymont, DE), and a two-RBI single from Simpson secured the Lightning's 10-2 triumph in five innings.  The Lions' final run coming from Gable with a second solo home run.

Simpson closed with two hits and three RBI, Bohmann and Pelcak each finished 2-for-2 with two RBI, and Scott added two hits and one RBI.

Goldey-Beacom advances to championship weekend of the tournament, facing Bridgeport on Thursday at 1:30pm in New Castle, DE.  Wilmington and Bloomfield round out the four-team field in the double-elimination portion with the champion advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
