Game Recap: Softball |

Softball Grabs 4-0 Victory at Chestnut Hill; Game Two Postponed

The weather held off just in time for Goldey-Beacom to get a rain-shortened 4-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory at Chestnut Hill, but not long enough for the second game to be postponed in Philadelphia.

The first game is official as the minimum five innings were completed.  Game two will be made up on Monday, April 1 at 3:00 pm in Philadelphia.

The Lightning got at it in the top of the first inning for a 2-0 lead.  Freshman McKenna Frank (Oxford, PA) had a leadoff single, senior Hannah Davis (Bethel, DE) reached with a bunt single and junior Alex Lowry (Wenonah, NJ) brought them both home with a two-run double.

GBC (13-18, 3-0 CACC) then scored its final runs in the third inning.  Junior Bryn Bohmann (Saskatoon, SK) reached on a one-out error, Morgan Scott (Elwood, IN) got to first on an error, fellow sophomore Autumn Simpson (Elkton, MD) had a groundout to score Bohmann and sophomore Rayna Pelcak (Laurel Springs, NJ) followed with an RBI single to plate Scott.

Dagsboro, DE senior Abigail O'Shields (9-5) made it nine straight victories, striking out eight in bringing her school-record total this season to 134 and allowing just two hits over five innings.  It is the ninth time this season she has notched at least eight strikeouts.

Frank closed with two hits and now is on a 20-game hitting streak, the longest known in school history with records only dating to 2012.  Bohmann also had two hits.

Chestnut Hill falls to 1-14 overall and 0-7 in the CACC.

Goldey-Beacom on Friday visits Post for a 1:00 pm doubleheader.
