Goldey-Beacom tried to defend itself against tough opponent in West Chester, but was handed a 6-1 loss at Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
The single Lightning point came from sophomore Zehra Canbaz (Denizli, Turkey), at No.1 singles, notching a 6-0, 6-3 triumph over Delaney Tingle. Fellow sophomores Nahomi Quinonez (Manta, Ecuador), Jess Sanzo (Bristol, England) and Hannah Brandl (Neufeld, Austria) battled at second, third and fifth singles, taking games to three sets.
 
Quinonez worked in the first set before falling 6-3, 4-6, 2-6 at No. 2 Singles to Tori Alexander. At No. 3 singles, Sanzo took the first set 6-0 before dropping the second and third 4-6, 5-7 to Ash Grooms. Brandl fought in a tough matchup to Felicia Manful, 7-6, 3-6, 2-6, at No. 5 singles.
 
Goldey-Beacom travels to Slippery Rock, PA on Saturday to take on Slippery Rock at 4:00 pm.
