Softball Drops a Pair in Florida



Goldey-Beacom continued its Florida trip with a 6-2 loss to Upper Iowa and a 3-1 setback to Findlay.
 
The Lightning in the fifth inning against the Peacocks got a two-run single from senior Hannah Davis (Bethel, DE), closing to 3-1.  But Serah Shafer lined a two-run double in the sixth and Rae VanMilligan added an RBI single for a 6-1 contest.
 
Davis in the seventh lined an RBI single that included an error, which plated junior Alex Lowry (Wenonah, NJ) for the final.
 
Davis and freshman McKenna Frank (Oxford, PA) had two hits apiece and senior Abigail O'Shields (Dagsboro, DE) struck out 10 over 5 1/3 innings.
 
Ari Charles rapped two hits for Upper Iowa.
 
GBC against Findlay closed to a 2-1 deficit in the fifth inning.  Lowry singled, stole second, took third on Davis' groundout and scored on Frank's double.
 
Alexys Antal struck out 10 for the Oilers.
 
Goldey-Beacom on Monday faces Southwest Minnesota State at 9:00 am and Bemidji State at 11:30 am.
