Softball Falls Twice at Shippensburg

Goldey-Beacom continues to show promise for the season, despite being dealt losses of 5-1 and 10-4 by top tier opponent Shippensburg.

Game two saw the Lightning tally more runs with the first coming in the second inning from junior Bri Snover (Claymont, DE) off a throwing error from Shippensburg.

Having tied the score at 1-1, junior Bryn Bohmann (Saskatoon, SK) continued her impressive play by lining a two-RBI single to bring home senior Hannah Davis (Bethel, DE) and junior Alex Lowry (Wenonah, NJ) to give the Lightning a 2-1 lead.

In the third, Caitlyn Martell tied up the score with a home run, and another run came for Shippensburg in the fourth for a 5-3 lead.

The Lightning notched their final run in the sixth, courtesy of a fielder's choice to score sophomore Morgan Scott (Elwood, IN), who had reached base via a single.

Shippensburg solidified its triumph in the bottom of the sixth, with Brie Wilmot clearing the bases with a grand slam, an RBI single from Emilee Sullivan and a run-scoring double from Emma Mackulin.

Davis, Bohmann, Scott and Bohmann each notched a hit for the Lightning.

Martell closed with three hits, Wilmot notched two hits and six RBI with four others getting two hits for Shippensburg.

In game one, five Goldey-Beacom players got a hit, with Scott notching a groundout RBI in the sixth to drive home Davis.

Shippensburg secured the win with RBI singles in the first, third, and fourth innings, and a two RBI homer in the fourth from Morgan Lindsay.

Senior Abigail O'Shields (Dagsboro, DE) recorded four strikeouts over four innings in the loss for GBC (0-6).
