Softball Drops Two to Bloomsburg

Goldey-Beacom played two solid contests against what always is a solid Bloomsburg squad, but was handed defeats by scores of 8-1 and 8-3 at the Jackson Complex in Wilmington, DE.

Goldey-Beacom in game one struck first.  Freshman McKenna Frank (Oxford, PA) made it 3-for-3 in leadoff at-bats this season with her third such double, reached second on a sacrifice from senior Hannah Davis (Bethel, DE) and scored when junior Bryn Bohmann (Saskatoon, SK) singled up the middle.

It was 1-1 entering the seventh, when the Huskies struck for seven runs.  Sarah Yamrick stroked an RBI double, Emma Little drew a bases-loaded walk, Alex Iseminger crushed a two-run double and Mia Nemeth added a three-run double.

Frank had two hits and senior Abigail O'Shields (Dagsboro, DE) struck out seven over 6 2/3 innings.

Callie Sower was overpowering with 12 strikeouts, Iseminger and Nemeth each had two hits and three RBI with Sage Weidlich adding two hits for Bloomsburg.

Bohmann in game two again showed her mettle, lining an RBI single in the first to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead.

Bloomsburg got two in the second on a sacrifice fly from Kayleigh Lenner and an RBI single Weidlich.  Bella Culp's run-scoring single in the third and Josie Straigis RBI single later in the frame made it 4-1.

Bohmann in the last of the third again showed her power, clubbing a two-run homer for her second long ball of the season and second three-RBI contest.

But the Huskies scored four times in the sixth for the final.  Culp got a two-run single, Straigis stroked an RBI single and Gianna Gombeda got a run-scoring single.

Davis recorded two hits and now has 132 career, moving her into a tie with Brandy Ash for 14th place in school annals.

Iseminger and Culp notched three hits apiece and Kelly Eberly struck out five over four relief innings.

Goldey-Beacom on Friday visits Shippensburg for a noon doubleheader.
