Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s Basketball Rolls to 80-59 Triumph Over Wilmington

Goldey-Beacom raced to a big halftime lead and maintained its strong shooting in the second half for an 80-59 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Wilmington at the Jones Center in Wilmington, DE.

A blistering first half saw the Lightning open a 46-29 lead by shooting 48 percent (16-of-33) from the floor and not allowing the Wildcats to get anything going.  The defense also was on point in forcing 10 turnovers and relinquishing any momentum.

Junior Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE) scored 18 points in the half with senior Julie Kulesza (Wilmington, DE) adding 15.  Jasmine McDuffie did everything she could to keep Wilmington in it, scoring 12 points.

The Wildcats looked to make things a game by shooting 46 percent (11-of-24) from the field in the second half, but the Lightning would have none of it.  The home side connected on 43 percent (12-of-28) from the field and went 8-for-9 from the foul line.

Ciszkowski was on fire, netting 29 points on 10-of-16 shooting and canning seven 3-pointers that are all season highs.  Her career bests of 32 points and nine 3-pointers took place January 23, 2024 at Wilmington.

Ciszkowski now is tied for 19th in school history at 752 career points, equaling Akilah Sewell (2009-13).  Her 171 three-points now has her in fourth place in team history, passing former standout Sarah Round (2018-20, 2021-22).

The school record for 3-pointres in 203, achieved by Lexi Bruno from 2014-17.

Kulesza also had a day, scoring 20 points for a career high that includes her three seasons at Bucknell.  She shot 7-of-13 from the floor and is averaging 16.3 points over her last three contests.

Sophomore Katie Yoder (Dublin, PA), a member of the CACC Weekly Honor Roll each of the last two weeks, netted 10 points with freshman Lydia Betz (Pittsburgh, PA) adding eight for GBC (1-7, 1-1 CACC).

McDuffie scored 19 points with six 3-pointers for the Wildcats (0-9, 0-2), who committed 23 turnovers and shot just 38 percent (21-of-56) from the field.

Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday visits Mercy for a 5:00 pm game.
