Goldey-Beacom Athletics last year got its highest NCAA Academic Success Rate in school history and went a percentage point higher this year, ending with 92 percent.
Â
This also marks an increase of four percentage points from two years ago and Goldey-Beacom was one of 43 schools to receive the NCAA's Presidents' Award, given to those who achieve at least 90 percent.
Â
"Academic success continues to be a hallmark of the student-athlete experience at GBC," Director of Athletics Jeremy Benoit said. Â "This is thanks in large part to the commitment of our faculty to the education of our student-athletes and their flexibility to their sometimes difficult schedules, but also to our institution's commitment to academic support. Â We have one of the most thorough academic support strategies for student-athletes that I've seen amongst our Division II competitors and we are very proud of what it has accomplished in advancing our academic success."
Â
The NCAA ASR average among Division II schools is 77 percent.
Â
The ASR and the Federal Graduation Rate (FGR) are metrics that NCAA Division II colleges use to measure the retention, persistence and graduation of student-athletes. The ASR typically is seen as a more accurate representation of academic success, since the FGR only includes scholarship athletes who began their enrollment at the College as freshmen. Whereas the ASR includes all student-athletes, including transfers who leave the College in good academic standing.
Â
- The 92 percent puts Goldey-Beacom tied for 12th among over 300 NCAA Division II schools and tied for second in the 12-team Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
- Men's golf, softball, women's tennis and women's cross country/track & field all achieved an ASR of 100 percent, ending tied for third in the CACC with three programs.
- For a second straight year, Goldey-Beacom is one of the same five CACC schools to earn the Presidents' Award (Caldwell, Chestnut Hill, Holy Family, Jefferson).
- Goldey-Beacom in 2023-24 saw 61 of its student-athletes named to the CACC All-Academic Team and 25 picked to the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team.
- Goldey-Beacom in its history has six named CSC Academic All-America, 81 picked CSC Academic All-District and nine tabbed winners of the CACC Top XVII Award for having the top GPA at the finals site of each conference championship.

"Our College continues to work together to support our student-athletes making sure they are able to balance their academic rigor and athletics," Associate Director of Athletics/Senior Woman Administrator/Women's Basketball Coach Bethann Burke said. "Our coaches have continued to recruit high-caliber student-athletes and institutionally we have continued to grow our academic support programs to our student-athletes needs. Our student-athletes fully buy into putting forth their best academic effort and the College supports them. Our student-athletes work hard and are great models for our campus community."
