Lucas Fernandes Named Second Team All-CACC For Men’s Soccer

Goldey-Beacom junior midfielder Lucas Fernandes (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) exploded on the scene almost immediately and his solid playmaking helped him to be picked second team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference for Men's Soccer.
 
A dynamic athlete with great footwork, outstanding passing skills and solid athleticism, Fernandes consistently helped the Lightning take steps forward to getting back among the league's elite.  His 11 assists on the season were tied for fourth in school history with GBC Hall of Famer Matt DiGiacobbe from 2002 and are second in the CACC.  Fernandes also is tied for ninth in the league with 15 points.
 
Fernandes' highlights this season include getting a league-best four assists November 2 against Bloomfield.  He also had a goal with three assists last Thursday in Goldey-Beacom's 6-4 win at Wilmington (DE).
 
Goldey-Beacom (7-12, 6-5 CACC) ended the regular season with victories in four of its last six contests to clinch its second consecutive trip to the CACC Tournament.  The team saw newcomers account for three of the squad's top four point totals on the year, including its top two goal scorers.
