Goldey-Beacom's Esports team was outmatched in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate by Bloomfield and ended up dropping both sets 9-6 and 9-4.
The Lightning started off the match strong with freshman Stephen "Anhelo" Quinn (Oceanview, DE) playing as "King Dedede" and defeating Bloomfields "Falco" player. Bloomfield's "Sora" player was able to take seven stocks from GBC and the player, "Ness", took the final two, ending set one.
In the beginning of set two, the lightning dropped three stocks, but Quinn, playing as "Mr Game and Watch", was able to even the score, 3-3, and shift some momentum away from Bloomfield. Bloomfield then played "Sora" who was able to capitalize and take the remaining 6 stocks, leading to Bloomfield's victory.
Quinn ended the match with 6 stocks, leading for the Lightning.
Goldey-Beacom competes in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate again on Tuesday at 9pm.
