Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s Basketball Falls, 66-50, at Bloomfield

Goldey-Beacom looked to get back on the winning track in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, but was dealt a 66-50 loss at Bloomfield in Bloomfield, NJ.

Goldey-Beacom in the opening half exhibited the same impressive defense that has kept it in many contests.  Bloomfield was held to just 24 percent shooting (8-of-33) with nine turnovers, including just 3-of-18 in the opening quarter.

The Bears did make the most of their attempts, getting five points apiece from Kayla Sykes and Taneshia Tucker in gaining a 24-20 halftime cushion.  Sophomore Karlee Lemon (Williamsburg, VA) paced the Lightning with nine points.

Bloomfield, however, erupted in the third quarter with a 23-13 edge for a 47-33 lead by shooting 47 percent (8-of-17) from the field with three 3-pointers.  Daniya Darby exploded with eight points by shooting 4-for-5 from the foul line and Kamrin Babbs added seven points.

Katie Yoder (Dublin, PA), a two-time honoree as the CACC Rookie of the Week, in the second half did everything she could to keep the Lightning in it.  She scored 15 points in the half, including 10 in the fourth quarter on 3-of-6 shooting and going 3-for-4 from the line.

Yoder ended with 17 points and nine rebounds over 37 minutes for GBC (1-14, 0-4).  Lemon poured in 11 points, freshman Farrah White (Wilmington, DE) scored six and senior Janiya Stevens (Ellendale, DE) added five rebounds.

Darby had 12 points and 11 rebounds, Babbs scored 12 points, Sykes netted 11, Anisha Able hauled in 12 rebounds and Tiara Mahorn added 11 for the Bears (2-10, 1-3).

Goldey-Beacom is off until next Saturday, when it visits Post for a non-league contest at 2:00 pm.
