Women’s Basketball Falls 98-46 at Post



Goldey-Beacom headed to New England to face Post and was handed a 98-46 loss in Waterbury, CT.
 
Post in the opening quarter exploded to a 28-11 lead by shooting 65 percent (11-of-17) from the field with four 3-pointers.  Maya Klein scored eight points with Tijanae Simmons adding six.
 
The Lightning in the second quarter exhibited strong defense by holding the Eagles to only 33 percent (6-of-18) shooting and one 3-pointer.  Post did hold a 46-19 lead at the break thanks to Klein's 12 points and Simmons' eight.
 
Post regained its shooting touch in the third quarter, netting 24 points and shooting 42 percent (8-of-19) from the floor to take a 70-33 lead.  Klein poured in seven points with Simmons adding six.
 
Sophomore Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE) ended with 14 points and three 3-pointers over just 22 minutes.  She now is at 105 career 3-pointers, moving into seven place in team history.
 
Freshman Farrah White (Wilmington, DE) made her first collegiate start and continued her solid play, closing with eight points over 28 minutes for the Lightning (1-15).  Senior Janiya Stevens (Ellendale, DE) scored seven points and junior Julie McCarron (Wilmington, DE) added six.
 
Klein finished with 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting, Naj White scored 19 on 7-of-7 shooting, Simmons poured in 14 and Taina Pagan added 13 rebounds for Post (8-6).
 
Please note this game does not count in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference standings.  These teams on February 17 will play a league contest at the Jones Center.
 
Goldey-Beacom is home next Wednesday against No. 6 Jefferson as part of a doubleheader with the men's team.  Game time is at 6:00 pm, followed by the men's contest at 8:00 pm.
