Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Rory Ciszkowski’s Career Night Lifts Women’s Basketball to 78-46 Rout at Wilmington

Sophomore Rory Ciszkowski (Wilmington, DE) had a night with career bests of 32 points and nine 3-pointers, helping Goldey-Beacom to a 78-46 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Wilmington in Newark, DE.

Goldey-Beacom in the first quarter exploded out of the gate to the tune of an 18-7 lead, using relentless pressure and playing with the same drive it has shown the entire season.  Ciszkowski scored nine points in the frame and sophomore Karlee Lemon (Williamsburg, VA) added five for the Lightning, who held the Wildcats to just 2-of-12 shooting from the field.

The second period was more of the same with GBC netting 11 consecutive points to gain a 31-9 cushion with 4:12 remaining.  Ciszkowski kicked in five more points with freshman Farrah White (Wilmington, DE) draining a 3-pointer.

The Lightning held a 35-14 halftime cushion by limiting the Wildcats to a mere 3-of-26 from the floor and 0-of-10 from three-point range to go with 12 turnovers. Ciszkowski netted 14 points in the half with senior Janiya Stevens (Ellendale, DE) continuing to show great play in the post, getting eight and nine rebounds.

It all was part of an eye-popping night for Ciszkowski, who bested her previous highs of 21 points December 18, 2023 vs. Saint Thomas Aquinas and six 3-pointers November 26, 2023 against Mercy.  Her 119 career 3-pointers moves her into sixth place on the school's career list and her 54 triples this season puts her one out of the GBC top-10 list.

Stevens played one of her best games of the season, recording 12 points and 12 rebounds for her third double-double of the campaign and giving Wilmington little breathing room in the paint.  White netted a season-best 12 points for the Lightning (2-17, 1-6 CACC), who notched their 12th victory in the last 13 meetings with the Wildcats (1-16, 0-7).

Mia Fuller scored 13 points and Aniyah Bond added 10 for the Wildcats, who shot just 36 percent (15-of-58) from the floor and committed 15 turnovers.

Goldey-Beacom on Saturday hosts Felician as part of a doubleheader with the men's team.  Game time is at 1:00 pm, followed by the men's contest at 3:00 pm.
