Men's and Women's Track & Field End Day One at CACC Championship

Goldey-Beacom closed day one of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships in fine form, with the women's side currently sitting in fifth and the men in sixth place, in Lakewood, NJ.
 
Sophomore Karla Chardon (Penns Grove, NJ) had a strong first day, becoming repeat champion of the javelin throw with a best distance of 39.38m. In other field events, junior Alexia Cornish (Milford, DE) placed seventh in the hammer throw with 32.59m.
 
On the men's side, freshman Sebastien Lacroix (Hamilton, NJ) saw a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 32.63m. Fellow freshman Jayvon Laguerre (Milford, DE) closed the high jump with a best of 1.85m to place sixth. Junior Chris Crossen (Magnolia, DE), the sole Lightning runner in the 10000m, ran a time of 36:42.78 to place seventh.
 
After day one, five events have been scored for the women and six have been scored for the men. The women sit in joint-fifth place with 12 points with Caldwell. On the men's side, the Lightning have nine points to sit in sixth. Georgian Court leads both the men's and women's sides with 65 points on the men's side and 57 for the women.
 
Goldey-Beacom conclude the meet on Sunday, with events starting at 10:00 am.
