Softball Drops Two at Bloomfield

Goldey-Beacom faced a tough contest in North Jersey and was ultimately dealt two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference losses, 4-1 and 5-0, by Bloomfield.

The Lightning opened the scoring for game one with a sacrifice fly from sophomore Alex Lowry (Wenonah, NJ) to drive home senior Hannah Davis (Bethel, DE).

But Bloomfield recorded four runs over the rest of the game with two hits from Miya Payne, a sacrifice play from Jenna O'Reilly and a fielder's choice play.

Davis, junior Nicole Makin (Edgewater Park, NJ), freshman Autumn Simpson (Elkton, MD) and junior Gabriella Monzo (Northfield, NJ) all had a hit.

Payne had two hits and two RBI with Daniela Vidal geting a hit.

In game two, Bloomfield took control of the game from the first inning with an RBI-single from Vidal.

In the fourth, Bloomfield rallied for three more runs and recorded one more in the fifth inning to secure a 5-0 win.

Monzo had one hit for the Lightning (28-20, 7-11 CACC).

Jocelyn Moody had two hits and four other players had a hit for Bloomfield (11-28, 8-9).

Goldey-Beacom hosts Georgian Court on Tuesday in a 2:00 pm doubleheader at the Jackson Athletic Complex in Wilmington, DE.
