Women’s Tennis Dealt 6-1 Loss by Slippery Rock

A battle was at hand when two traditional powers meet and Goldey-Beacom hung tough against Slippery Rock before it was handed a 6-1 setback at Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, DE.
 
The Lightning (5-11) continue to receive solid play at No. 6 singles from freshman Alex Kepa (Nottingham, England), who made it three straight singles victories and four in her last five with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Georgie Lancaster.  Kepa now is 4-3 on the campaign.
 
Two other matches saw GBC take Slippery Rock (12-6) deep into the second set.  Junior Maria Bruno (Maracay, Venezuela) battled in a 6-2, 7-5 loss at third singles against Dari Sakhanova with sophomore Macy Hendin-Walker (Ipswich, England) dropping a 6-3, 7-5 contest at No. 4 singles to Nuria Martin Lopez.
 
Goldey-Beacom ends its 2022-23 campaign April 24 in a home match against Queens (NY), which begins at 2:00 pm.
