Women’s Tennis Handed 7-0 Loss at Saint Thomas Aquinas

Playing against one of the East Region's top squads, Goldey-Beacom was dealt a 7-0 loss at Saint Thomas Aquinas in Sparkill, NY.
 
A bright spot for the Lightning was freshman Zehra Canbaz (Denizli, Turkey), who won her opening set at second singles before succumbing to a 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 loss against Viktoriia Pavlovets.
 
Junior Maria Bruno (Maracay, Venezuela) also made her way to a third set in her singles match, but ended with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 setback at fourth singles against Samanta Villegas Robles.
 
Sophomore Macy Hendin-Walker (Ipswich, England) and freshman Alex Kepa (Nottingham, England) showed grit in their No. 3 doubles match, but were handed a 6-4 loss by Paula Palero and Amaia Balaguer Brau.  Bruno and Canbaz went deep in their match at first doubles, but fell 6-3 to Villegas Robles and Ebba Rosberg.
 
Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday is back on the road to face the District of Columbia, beginning at noon.
