Go-Ahead Home Run from Hannah Davis Earns Softball a Split at Jefferson

A seventh-inning home run from junior Hannah Davis (Bethel, DE) lifted Goldey-Beacom to a 3-2 triumph in game two, following a 1-0 loss in game one against Jefferson in Philadelphia, PA.

Sophomore Alex Lowry (Wenonah, NJ) connected for a triple before being driven in by a single from Davis to open the scoring. Davis made her way around the bases via a stolen base, a sacrifice bunt from junior Nicole Makin (Edgewater Park, NJ), and an RBI-single from senior Chrissy Jordan (Pasadena, MD) to give the Lightning a 2-0 lead.

Jefferson tied the score with a run in the first off a single Emily Akelaitis and a fifth-inning run by Julia Heine via an error.

Davis, continuing her strong play at the plate, homered to left field to take the game, 3-2.

Davis closed with two hits and two RBI, with freshman Kaitlyn Jagielski (Imperial, PA) connecting for two hits. Freshman Alesia Doctor (Rising Sun, MD) claimed her seventh win of the season, striking out nine over seven innings.

The single run of the game in game one came for Jefferson in the third inning of an RBI single from Winnai Hoyt.

Lowry tallied two hits, including a double to left center. Freshman Autumn Simpson (Elkton, MD) and Makin each had one hit for GBC (21-10, 1-2 CACC).

Five players had one hit for Jefferson (9-8, 4-1).
