Track & Field Show Impressive Outings at Fasttrack Last Chance Invitational

Goldey-Beacom Men's and Women's Track & Field returned to Staten Island, NY to compete in the Fasttrack Last Chance Invitational and saw impressive outings, with school records broken on both sides.

In men's track, junior Emmanuel Otsyina (Aston, PA) broke the school's indoor 400m time with 52.97 and a 19th place finish. Sophomore Hezakiah Ali-Bentley (Dover, DE) placed 21st with a time of 53.09 and junior Tymir Ash-Shaheed (Middletown, DE) followed, running 56.80 to place 30th.

Freshman Kedar Reid (Bear, DE) impressed in the 500m, seeing a third-place finish with a time of 1:11.99. Sophomore A'mair Buffaloe (Prsopect Park, NJ) placed 19th in the 200m with a time of 23.12.

In the fielding events, freshman Jayvon Laguerre (Milford, DE) placed fifth in the high jump with a highest jump of 1.85m. Breaking his own school record, sophomore Manny Carranza (Milford, DE) jumped 6.27m to place ninth in the long jump. Freshman Sebastien Lacroix (Hamilton, NJ) finished third in the men's shot put for his first top three finish with a throw of 12.36m. In the weight throw, Lacroix placed 13th with a throw of 9.58m.
 
Women's track and field events saw their own array of records. In the 400m, sophomore Ny'jashia Smith (Newark, DE) broke the previous record, placing 12th with a time of 1:04.45. Junior Camilla Flagg (Mardela Springs, MD) finished close behind in 16th place with 1:08.41.

Junior Hailey Crawford (Newark, DE) saw a fourth-place finish in the 500m with a time of 1:30.12. The 60m dash closed with a 17th place finish from sophomore Karla Chardon (Penns Grove, NJ) with a time of 8.22, and senior Asia Hollis (Rising Sun, MD) closely behind with a time of 8.58 to place 27th.
 
In the fielding events, sophomore Savannah Boyce (Somerdale, NJ) also broke her own record of 1.40m in high jump, placing eighth with a jump of 1.42m. Shot put saw the same from senior Alexia Cornish (Milford, DE). Breaking her previous record of 10.87m, Cornish threw 10.94m to place sixth. Freshman Madison McGowan (Bristow, VA) placed ninth with 9.67m, and junior Damia White (Bridgeton, NJ) followed in 13th with a throw of 8.64m.

Cornish closed the weight throw in 16th place with 8.71m and White threw 5.69m to place 18th.
 
Goldey-Beacom travel to West Chester, PA on Saturday, March 25 to compete in the WCU Invitational.
